Abstract
Contact: academic@s.canback.netTelluBase global income distribution data are available for free for academic research. TelluBase is a dataset by Tellusant. The graph shows the content of TelluBase. The academic usage limitations are:1) The requested dataset is limited in size 2) It is used for a specific research effort 3) it is not shared beyond this research effort4) The database, TelluBase, is correctly citedTelluBase and its predecessor have been publicly available since 2007 and have hundreds of academic citations spanning domains like veterinary sciences, health care, housing economics, poverty research, city development, and much more. A background paper on the methodology and some use cases are available in Where In the World Is the Market? The Income Distribution Approach to Understanding Consumer Demand in Emerging Countries. The paper also demonstrates the rigor behind the data. While the database is mainly for commercial clients, the free academic use described here has no commercial intent. On a personal note: I started analyzing income distribution in 1992 in preparation for a speech. Over the years, my colleagues and I have expanded the database and made the methods deployed ever more robust. The online version was introduced in 2007. The current version was introduced in 2023. I have over the years built a keen understanding of emerging markets and have worked on the ground in around 90 countries, usually far outside the capitals.
