Abstract

The Hostel Attendance Management System is a digital solution designed to automate and streamline the process of monitoring and recording student attendance within hostel premises. Traditional attendance tracking methods in hostels often rely on manual registers, which are time-consuming, prone to human error, and difficult to maintain efficiently. This system aims to replace manual processes with a secure, accurate, and centralised digital platform. The system enables wardens and administrators to record, monitor, and manage student attendance in real time. It maintains a structured database containing student details, room allocations, entry and exit logs, and attendance history. Students can be marked present or absent through various authentication methods such as ID-based login, biometric verification, RFID cards, or QR code scanning, depending on the implementation. One of the key features of the system is automated reporting. It generates daily, weekly, and monthly attendance reports, helping hostel authorities quickly identify irregular attendance patterns. In case of absenteeism beyond a predefined limit, the system can automatically send alerts or notifications to students, wardens, or parents. The Hostel Attendance Management System enhances transparency, improves record accuracy, reduces paperwork, and saves administrative time. Additionally, it strengthens security by ensuring that only authorised individuals enter or leave the hostel premises. The system can be implemented as a web-based or mobile-based application, allowing easy access for administrators and authorised personnel.Overall, this system contributes to efficient hostel management, improved student monitoring, and better communication between hostel authorities and stakeholders.
