Abstract
A biting paper that ironically examines arbitrary mechanics of institutional legitimacy and the audacity required to theorize creativity, capitalism, and culture from positions of genealogical comfort. It asks: who inherits the right to critique, and on what timeline does historical proximity become irrelevant? When scholars (products of inherited wealth, European lineage, and American academic security specifically) spend five years compiling theories about the commodification of art, what remains unspoken?
