Matlab codes of "Heterogeneous bubble nucleation in rhyolitic melt: Insights from the Waimihia mixed magma eruption"
Abstract
This item is provided as part of the submission of the manuscript entitled "Heterogeneous bubble nucleation in rhyolitic melt: Insights from the Waimihia mixed magma eruption". This folder contains MATLAB codes for calculating bubble size distributions under constant or increasing decompression rates. The codes are provided as part of the submission of a manuscript entitled: “Heterogeneous bubble nucleation in rhyolitic melt: Insights from the Waimihia mixed magma eruption.” The numerical model is based on Ohashi (2025, JGR: Solid Earth). The folder also contains code for estimating the conduit radius from the decompression path. See the supplementary material of Ohashi et al. (2026, under review) for more information.---ContentsThis folder contains four main MATLAB programs:1. Run_Acceleration_gray.m This script is the front-end for simulating vesiculation of gray magma under an increasing decompression rate. The simulation accounts for bubble nucleation, growth, and coalescence. 2. Run_Acceleration_white.m This script is the front-end for simulating vesiculation of white magma under an increasing decompression rate. The simulation accounts for bubble nucleation, growth, and coalescence. The contact angle θ can be selected from 90°, 120°, or 150°. 3. Run_Const_dPdt_gray.m This script is the front-end for simulating vesiculation of gray magma under a constant decompression rate. The simulation accounts for bubble nucleation, growth, and coalescence. 4. Run_Const_dPdt_gray_ng.m This script is the front-end for simulating vesiculation of gray magma under a constant decompression rate, considering bubble nucleation and growth only (coalescence is not included).---Citation and LicenseIf you use or adapt this code, please cite: Ohashi et al.
