Integration of Compact Fusion Reactors (CFR) for Enhanced Success in Future Naval Submarine Platforms
Abstract
This paper evaluates the theoretical integration of Compact Fusion Reactors (CFR) into next-generation United States Navy submarines. Utilizing a comparative mathematical analysis, the study measures specific energy, radiation shielding feasibility, and hydrodynamic performance against the current S9G fission baseline. Key findings include a 412% increase in fuel energy density and a theoretical flank speed of approximately 45 knots. The research highlights the strategic advantage of "Acoustic Superiority" achieved through direct energy conversion, bypassing traditional, noisy steam-cycle machinery.
