Abstract

The WHO defines obesity as a condition that can result in major health problems and is characterised by excessive fat buildup (a Body Mass Index [BMI] of 30 kg/m² or more). As a risk factor for multiple comorbidities, including diabetes, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, gallstones, osteoarthritis, and infertility, this illness has a detrimental effect on both physical and emotional health. Ayurvedic treatments are thought to be crucial for reducing the negative effects of currently available oral drugs and improving the safety and effectiveness of Vasti, which targets the colon, the main site of Vata dosha, for quick absorption and systemic effects. This makes Vasti more effective than oral drugs and other therapies. Objective: The primary objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of Mustadi Gana Vasti on BMI, anthropometric parameters, and lipid profile (serum cholesterol levels) in patients with obesity. Secondly, to evaluate the reduction in lipid profile and anthropometric parameters in both groups, and to evaluate the sustained relief individually in both groups. In contrast to oral medications and other treatments, it bypasses liver metabolism, offering both feeding (Anuvasana) and detoxification (Niruha) through Vasti treatment, and eliminates surplus Meda and Kapha from the srotas (channels) and colon by scraping. Clinical studies on Mustadi Gana are still pending; however, it possesses the qualities of Kaphagna and Medogna. Material: Clinical studies from Google Scholar and PubMed have been reviewed, yielding positive results for the management of obesity (sthoulya) with Vasti. Methods -This study is designed as a randomized, active-controlled, open-label clinical trial. Participants diagnosed with Obesity are enrolled in the study according to the selection criteria. For this study, we will enroll 60 patients. Group A will receive Vasti with Mustadi Gana (the Experimental Group) for sixteen days, and Group B will receive Lekhan Vasti, the Control group, for sixteen days.
