Abstract

SilentSight: Speech-to-Text Assistive Glasses for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a research project that focuses on creating smart glasses that change spoken words into written text instantly. The text appears on the lenses, allowing users to read what someone is saying while looking at them. This helps make conversations smoother and more natural. Our goal is to reduce communication challenges faced by people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The system uses speech recognition technology to listen to spoken language and quickly turn it into clear, easy-to-read text. In our study, we test how accurate the transcription is, how fast the text appears, and how comfortable and easy the glasses are to use in everyday situations such as school, work, and social gatherings.Through this project, we hope to promote better communication, increase independence, and improve the overall quality of life for individuals with hearing difficulties.
