Abstract

Epiphyte-Host Interaction Network of Marine Macroalgae in CubaOverviewThis dataset contains presence/absence matrices of epiphytic macroalgae in different habitats and on host algae, compiled from the literature review published by Jover et al. (2020). The data represent the network of ecological interactions on the Cuban marine shelf.File Contents- Matrix_Epiphyte_Habitat: Presence (1) / absence (0) of each epiphyte (rows) in each habitat (columns). Habitats include: RB (rocky bottom), CR (coral reef), S (seagrass beds), M (mangrove), SB (sandy bottom), SMB (sandy-muddy bottom), MB (muddy bottom), SRB (sandy-rocky bottom).- Matrix_Epiphyte_Host: Presence (1) / absence (0) of each epiphyte (columns) on each host alga (rows). Epiphyte (EA001–EA321) and host (H001–H130) codes are detailed in the identification sheets.- Matrix_Host_Validation: Host presence/absence matrix in habitats (used to validate consistency).- RawData_Habitat_Criteria: Sensitivity, exposure, and resilience values assigned to each habitat (scale 1–5).- ID_Epiphytes: List of epiphyte species with their code and scientific name.- ID_Host: List of host species (macroalgae and marine angiosperms) with their code and scientific name.- ID_Habitat: Description of the habitat codes.MethodologyData were extracted from existing scientific literature on epiphyte-host interactions in Cuba, compiled and standardized by Jover et al. (2020). Only records with species-level identification were considered. Presence was coded as 1 and absence as 0.
