Abstract

Simualtion data to reproduce figures in Scherf et al., The impact of electron precipitation on Earth's thermospheric NO production and the drag of LEO satellites, Annales Geophysicae, accepted, 2026.The data contains: - simulation data (species densities, thermal structure) for two events (i.e., 9 November 2004; 15 May 2005) for the upper atmosphere as modeled with the 1D upper atmosphere code Kompot- Nitric oxide production through electron simulation for the same events as modeled with a numerical kinetic Monte Carlo model.- links to SABER observational data and to the orbital evolution of CHAMP and GRACE. - a readme-file with further information on the data. For further details on the models, see the preprint at https://doi.org/10.5194/egusphere-2025-4119
