Abstract

This figshare repository contains the python notebooks and data required to reproduce the results presented in Weiler et al. (2026): "Investigating potential benefits of future sub-L1 missions with STEREO-A". The dataset includes the following resources: Spacecraft Data:NOAA L1 RTSW data product (includes real-time measurements from ACE & DSCOVR)STEREO-A (beacon and science) OMNI Dataset:Minute resolution data (observed SYM-H) Position Files:EarthL1STEREO-A Analysis Files:Start and end times of 32 CME events, observed by both STEREO-A & spacecraft at L1 from November 2022 to June 2024Start and end times of 26 observed geomagnetic storms from November 2022 to June 2024 Outputs from our analysis:Output files (modeled SYM-H indices from STEREO-A and L1 data)Movie of the geomagnetic response as modeled from STEREO-A & L1 data compared to observed SYM-H indices, covering the time range from November 2022 to June 2024Figures of the 32 CME events (magnetic field and plasma data, STEREO-A & L1)Python ScriptsThe Python scripts for the analysis in our paper are also available at this GitHub repository: https://github.com/EvaWeiler/sub_L1_statistics. The notebooks and scripts given here refer to the release v1.0 for the revised paper submission. A short description of each notebook is provided in the readme file.
