DEFORMATION OF METRIC DURING ROTATION IN BINARY SYSTEMS
Abstract
The kinematics of a massless dust-like disk performing rotation about its own axis and orbital motion around an external center of mass is considered. Analytical expressions are obtained for the relativistic velocity of the disk points and the deformation of the space-time metric in the radial direction connecting the centers of rotation, as well as along the azimuthal perimeter of the disk. Numerical calculations are performed for the parameters of known binary pulsars (PSR B1913+16, PSR J0737-3039A, PSR B1534+12, PSR J0348+0432), showing the emergence of spatial inhomogeneity of the metric with characteristic shifts from 0.4 to 162 mm. It is shown that the rotating surface of a star sequentially passes through regions with different local metric values, which should lead to periodic modulation of locally measured physical properties of matter. The possibility of experimental detection of the effect by means of pulsar timing and spectral analysis is discussed.
