Abstract

The video emphasises the critical role of effective time management in fostering student success and well-being. Structured to guide students through the initial stages of a new semester, this session outlines three primary learning outcomes: mapping current weekly activities, creating a personalised and balanced weekly schedule, and exploring habit-tracking tools. The video begins by encouraging students to reflect on their existing weekly routines, highlighting the importance of accurately identifying how time is spent. This self-assessment allows students to gain visibility into their schedules and recognise areas that may require adjustment. By providing a structured template for mapping activities, the content aims to facilitate honest introspection, which can lead to more effective time allocation. The second segment focuses on redesigning students' schedules. Here, students are prompted to reflect on their mapped routines, guiding them through questions that prompt critical thinking about their time management effectiveness. This reflective practice is vital, as it cultivates self-awareness and encourages students to identify periods where they might feel overwhelmed or unproductive. By advocating for a balanced approach that includes academic responsibilities alongside self-care and leisure, it reinforces the significance of holistic well-being.In the final segment, students are introduced to habit-tracking tools that can aid in maintaining consistency and achieving long-term goals. Such tools are critical for helping students establish effective routines, particularly in a university environment where competing demands can lead to stress and burnout. By recommending accessible habit-tracking applications, the video equips students with practical resources to monitor their progress and make necessary adjustments. The rationale for addressing time management in relation to mental health is paramount. Effective time management is not just a skill for academic success; it directly impacts students' mental well-being. Poor time management can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy, which can hinder academic performance. In summary, this video serves as a valuable resource for students, helping them cultivate essential time management skills that promote both academic success and mental well-being. Through practical strategies, self-reflection, and the integration of habit-tracking tools, students can develop a more balanced and fulfilling university experience, leading to improved overall mental health.
