Multidisciplinary Dual-Species Serosurveillance to Support Malaria Elimination in the Peruvian Amazon: Integration of Recombinant Antigens, Immunodynamics, and Epidemiological Modeling
Abstract
Malaria elimination requires tools that go beyond detecting active infection. While microscopy, RDTs, and PCR identify parasitemia, they fail to capture recent exposure dynamics at the population level. Our project addresses this gap by developing an operational dual-species serosurveillance framework that integrates recombinant antigen standardization, quantitative serology, functional antibody kinetics, and epidemiological modeling. The objective is not to build a diagnostic device, but to deliver a validated and transferable surveillance asset, advancing the framework from TRL 2 to TRL 4.
