The Architecture of In-Betweenness: Mapping the Third Space as a Site of Resistance for the Othered and the Transnational
Abstract
This paper theorizes the "Architecture of In-Betweenness" as a vital survival mechanism for marginalized women and Third Culture Kids (TCKs), mapping the evolution of the Third Space from a site of psychic retreat to one of active political resistance. By synthesizing Homi K. Bhabha’s theory of cultural hybridity with Edward Soja’s spatial trialectics, this study analyzes a transhistorical trajectory across five seminal texts: The Yellow Wallpaper, Wide Sargasso Sea, The House on Mango Street, The Namesake, and Americanah.
