Abstract

This is a scoping review protocol intended to map and summarize the available evidence on iron intake from diet and or supplementation during pregnancy and its association with adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes among pregnant women without a diagnosis of anemia. The evidence will be used to describe the range of exposures, outcomes, study designs, and reported effect measures, and to identify evidence gaps to inform future research and clinical and public health decision making. Our question is, what is the available evidence on the relationship between iron intake from foods and or supplements and adverse maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes in pregnant women without anemia?
