Abstract

The work titled Sottisier de Nasr-Eddin-Hodja, Bouffon de Tamerlan: Suivi d’Autres Facéties Turques brings together the humorous anecdotes and witty remarks of the renowned folk sage Nasreddin Hodja, while also bearing traces of the legends in which he is referred to as Tamerlane’s jester. The book makes Hoca’s witty remarks, blended with wisdom circulating among the people, accessible to French readers and highlights the universal aspects of Ottoman-Turkish folk humor. It also includes other examples of Turkish humor, offering a rich cultural panorama.
