Organic carbon loading governs ecological structure and nitrogen cycling in a Tropical closed-basin lake over the late Holocene
Abstract
This dataset supports the reconstruction of late Holocene ecological change and nitrogen cycling in Jiaming Lake, eastern Taiwan. It includes diatom assemblage data, stable isotope measurements (δ¹³C and δ¹⁵N), elemental concentrations of carbon and nitrogen (C and N), and C/N ratios used to evaluate hydroclimate variability, ecological state, and biogeochemical processes over the last ~3800 cal yr BP. The dataset documents wetter intervals at ~3800–2400 and ~1600–800 cal yr BP and drier intervals at ~2400–1600 and ~800–300 cal yr BP, and was used to assess links among organic carbon loading, lake acidity, nitrogen cycling, hydroclimate variability, and possible human disturbance.
