Abstract

Supplementary information of the paper:Kusano, K., Saigo, H., & Tsuchiya, N. (2026). Measuring the diversity of qualia: Category-theoretic indices for psychophysical experimental data. Manuscript submitted for publication.Figure S1. Figure legend: Multidimensional scaling (MDS) results of two representative participants’ dissimilarity matrices. The upper panels show the profiles (orange line: generalized magnitude; blue line: spread). Lower panels show the MDS results based on each participant’s dissimilarity matrix. Participant ID 1 (on the left) has a profile with a high limit value (23 for both the generalized magnitude and the spread), and the MDS result is uniformly distributed across all words. Participant ID 4 (on the right) has a profile with a lower limit (4.73… for the generalized magnitude and 6.45… for the spread), and in the MDS result, certain words cluster, leading to a relatively biased distribution compared to participant ID 1. Also, participant ID 4’s profile converges to non-integer values, while participant ID 1 converges to an integer value.
