PTSD symptom cluster dataset by trauma exposure modality in older Vietnamese adults (VHAS)
Abstract
This dataset contains summary-level data supporting the findings of the study:“Differential PTSD Symptom Cluster Profiles by Trauma Exposure Modality in Community-Dwelling Vietnamese Older Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study”The dataset is derived from the second wave of the Vietnam Health and Aging Study (VHAS, 2021–2022), a population-based cohort of older adults aged ≥60 years in Vietnam. To protect participant confidentiality and comply with institutional ethical requirements, only aggregated summary data are provided. Individual-level data are not publicly shared. The dataset includes:• Summary statistics for PTSD symptom severity measured using the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) • Mean and standard deviation of total and cluster-level symptom scores (Clusters B–E) • Frequencies of trauma exposure characteristics by exposure modality • Proportion meeting clinical PTSD threshold (PCL-5 ≥11) • Logistic regression results (odds ratios and confidence intervals) • Sample size information for analytic groupsExposure modality classification:Any direct exposure: participants reporting at least one direct personal traumatic event (with or without concurrent indirect exposure)Indirect-only exposure: participants reporting exclusively indirect trauma exposure (witnessing or learning about traumatic events affecting others), with no direct personal exposureThe dataset supports the tables and figure presented in the manuscript and allows verification of reported descriptive and inferential statistics. No personally identifiable information is included.Researchers interested in accessing additional analytical variables may contact the corresponding author, subject to ethical approval and data governance requirements.
