Abstract

This study examined the associations between offense categories and police-recorded crime patterns across Peruvian departments using official criminal statistics reported by law enforcement institutions. A quantitative, cross-sectional, and correlational design was employed to analyze the spatial distribution and relationships among different categories of criminal offenses, including crimes against property, persons, public safety, and other legally classified infractions. The research aimed to identify regional crime trends, determine the degree of association between offense categories, and provide empirical evidence to support public security strategies and crime prevention policies in Peru. Statistical analyses included descriptive and inferential procedures to evaluate the intensity and distribution of police-recorded crimes across departments. The findings contribute to a better understanding of territorial crime dynamics and provide relevant information for decision-making in public safety management and criminological research.
