Abstract

This item contains the two research instruments used in the study "Gamified Strategies to Enhance Cognitive Development in Early Childhood Education" conducted at the Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN), Ibarra, Ecuador (2024). Instrument A — Structured Observation Checklist: An 18-item instrument organized into four cognitive dimensions (Attention and Concentration: 5 items; Memory: 5 items; Language and Communication: 4 items; Logical Thinking: 4 items). Applied twice (pre- and post-intervention) to 50 children aged 4–6 years using a 4-point Likert scale (1 = Never; 2 = Almost Never; 3 = Almost Always; 4 = Always). Cronbach's α = 0.91. Validated by expert judgment. Instrument B — Teacher Perception Survey: A 10-item questionnaire assessing teachers' prior knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions regarding gamification as a pedagogical tool, using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree; 5 = Strongly Agree), plus one open-ended question. Applied to 5 early childhood education teachers. Validated by expert judgment. Ethics approval: UTN Research Ethics Committee — Resolution No. UTN-CI-2024-208-R.
