Abstract

This Figshare item supports the article “Knowledge, safety information, and purchasing behavior in online medicine buying among university students in Thailand: a cross-sectional study”.The study was an analytical cross-sectional survey conducted among 385 university students in Thailand between December 2024 and January 2025. Eligible participants were students with previous online purchasing experience for medicines or health products. The study examined motivations for online purchasing, medicine and health-product purchasing behavior, safety information received during online medicine purchases, and knowledge of which products may lawfully be bought online. This item contains the underlying data and extended materials supporting the manuscript. The files include the de-identified participant-level dataset, embedded codebook/data dictionary, SPSS syntax used to reproduce the reported analyses, public Thai questionnaire, English questionnaire translation, knowledge key documenting the legal classification and correct answer for each knowledge item, completed STROBE checklist, and figure files.Direct identifiers were not collected. Product images from the original questionnaire are not included in the public questionnaire or extended materials to avoid copyright and trademark concerns. For the five product-image knowledge items, the public version replaces the original product photographs with generic product descriptions, and the knowledge key provides the legal category, correct answer, rationale, and source used for scoring. The data are shared to support transparency, reproducibility, and secondary analysis. Users should interpret the data as representing a convenience sample of students at one Thai university with prior online purchasing experience, not as a population-representative sample of all Thai university students or all Thai consumers.
