Abstract

In the manuscript "Reassessing Alpine Permafrost Thermal State by Accounting for Ground Ice" (submitted to Earth's Future), we proposed an enthalpy change-based metric (ΔH′) as a new indicator for quantifying permafrost thermal state (thermal stability). Through numerical experiments, we demonstrated that ΔH′ provides a more uniform scale and greater discriminative power for indicating potential permafrost persistence. Based on this metric, we produced a new map of permafrost thermal stability across the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP).This repository provides the original dataset, source code, and supporting materials used to reproduce the enthalpy change-based permafrost thermal state shown in Figure 3a of the manuscript.Filesreplot_enthalpy.tif Raster of the enthalpy change-based permafrost thermal state (Figure 3a).
