Data set for Gitman et al 2026; Microbiology Spectrum

This multicenter study, one of the largest evaluations of the VITEK REVEAL rapid AST system to date, demonstrated high agreement with the reference method (98.1% essential agreement and 96.0% categorical agreement across 7,945 antimicrobial-organism combinations) and substantially faster time to results. Performance was consistent across major Gram-negative pathogens, including resistant phenotypes and β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations. By delivering susceptibility results 26-32 hours earlier than MicroScan, VITEK REVEAL has the potential to support more timely antimicrobial optimization and improved stewardship efforts.
