Abstract

This collection contains the supplementary figures and the primary occurrence dataset supporting the manuscript "Range Contraction and Species Distribution Model of Jefferson Salamanders (Ambystoma jeffersonianum)."The study assesses the conservation status and habitat suitability of the Jefferson Salamander within Virginia using a citizen science dataset. The provided data and figures illustrate the methodological steps taken to account for range shifts over a ten-year period and the environmental drivers of habitat suitability identified via Maxent modeling.Contents of this Collection:Primary Dataset: A cleaned, multi-source occurrence dataset compiled from the Virginia Master Naturalist Program (2016–2024).Fig. S1 – VMN Survey Data Sheet: The standardized protocol and data collection form used by the Virginia Master Naturalist Program for vernal pool monitoring.Fig. S2 – SDM Response Curves: Detailed marginal response curves for the top environmental predictors (BIO5, BIO18, BIO4, BIO15) in the final species distribution model.Fig. S3 – Variable Importance Plot: A ranked summary of environmental variable contributions based on absolute coefficient magnitudes.Fig. S4 – Correlation Matrix: A cross-correlation analysis of the top 10 environmental predictors used to ensure model parsimony and reduce multicollinearity.
