Abstract

This article presents a reflection on responsive-relational social constructionism in dialogue with poststructuralist feminist theories, aiming to contribute to debates on men and violence. It focuses on the group intervention methodology, known in Brazil as the Gender Reflective Group, aimed at men who have committed gender-based violence. This study argues that reality and subjectivities are social and are constructed dialogically and relationally through language. The category "man" is conceived as a multifaceted and constantly negotiated concept, not as a fixed identity. Violence is analyzed as a social construction, communication, and a co-constructed relational process, including normative violence. Inspired by Tom Andersen's reflexive processes, Gender Reflective Groups promote dialogue, collaboration, and the co-construction of new meanings. This methodology seeks to problematize everyday issues, foster a critical stance, and deconstruct violent norms, to build more equitable relationships and promote social justice through reflection.
