Abstract

This article explores a critical, feminist, and decolonial approach to interventions with men who perpetrate gender-based violence. Drawing on Latin American epistemologies and the ecological model, it challenges traditional psychologizing frameworks and conceptualizes violence as a historically situated practice of patriarchal, colonial, and capitalist power. Rather than proposing a definitive model, the text outlines guidelines to orient interventions from a multilevel and multicomponent perspective, capable of problematizing the symbolic, relational, and material dimensions that sustain violence. It also critiques institutional approaches centered on technical neutrality or behavioral correction, advocating instead for an ethical-political practice grounded in situated knowledge, the confrontation of power, and collective responsibility. The article concludes with initial orientations aimed at enriching public policy and inter-institutional work in Uruguay, offering key insights to strengthen programs with men from a feminist and human rights perspective.
