Learning in the Digital Age: The Educational Revolution with Artificial Intelligence and LKT
Abstract
This study explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Learning and Knowledge Technologies (LKT) on contemporary education, with particular emphasis on how digitalisation reshapes teaching and learning processes. Within a rapidly evolving social context, AI has emerged both as a catalyst for innovation and as a source of educational challenges, especially in relation to the roles of teachers and students and to prevailing conceptions of learning. Empirical findings indicate that students experienced improvements in academic performance, attention, and motivation, with reported gains averaging 85% across core subjects such as mathematics, language, history, and science. The research adopts a positivist paradigm, employing a quantitative, hypothetical–deductive approach and a correlational design that combines documentary analysis with fieldwork. Data collection involved surveys, interviews, and observational techniques applied to both teachers and students. The results suggest that the integration of AI and LKT can foster active, personalised, and meaningful learning experiences. These practices appear to contribute to the development of key competencies, including digital literacy, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, which are widely regarded as essential for participation in an increasingly global and digitally mediated society.
