Literature review: Ecotheology, A Study on Environmental Concern from an Islamic and Scientific Perspective

Ecotheology is the integration of religious approaches with environmental issues, emphasizing sustainable principles in preserving the environment and nature conservation. Recently, environmental damage has become one of the global issues that requires special attention by integrating religious ethics and through scientific concepts. This literature review aims to study the concept of ecotheology through an examination of the integration between Islamic teachings and scientific perspectives regarding environmental care. The method used is a literature review, utilizing sources from scientific articles previously published in research journals. The search results show that Islam provides a comprehensive and complete theological foundation for ecological responsibility by emphasizing the interconnectedness between humans and nature, ethical accountability, and the importance of maintaining environmental balance. Scientific findings reinforce these values by showing the impact of human activities on climate change, the loss of biodiversity, and ecosystem instability. Based on the above description, it can be concluded that the integration of Islamic ecotheology and the understanding of scientific concepts regarding the environment can produce a strong framework to foster environmental awareness, instill behavior based on sustainable principles, and support environmental conservation efforts at local, national, and global levels. Furthermore, future research is expected not only to focus on the conceptual realm but also to lead to practical implementation through concrete actions in preserving and protecting the environment.
