Abstract

The impact of cosmic rays (CRs) on space weather remains a cutting-edge field of study. However, the complex variability of CR flux complicates the analysis of both short- and long-term trends. Forbush decreases (FDs), which represent significant short-term intensity changes, are frequently used to investigate the relationship between CRs and various atmospheric phenomena. While manual event detection is currently predominant, it is often ineffective; therefore, this work employs an automated approach for event detection. Fourier harmonic decomposition and an FD-location algorithm were employed. The results reveal distinct differences and similarities between CR flux variations at the Moscow and Oulu stations.
