The doi moi: the socialist road to Vietnam
Abstract
After a period of wars, Viet Nam was in a precarious socio-economic situation, in which there was no sustenance for almost any of the country's productive activities, nor for a large part of its population. As a result, during the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) held in 1986, a series of new policies aimed at improving the development of the Asian nation were implemented. This is how the Doi Moi or Renewal arises; a reform process that consisted of two stages of development. From this moment on, the country's dizzying social and economic development marked a milestone for global development paradigms. In a few years, Viet Nam became an actor with a marked regional prominence and a strong diplomatic vision.Likewise, the flow of foreign investments and the signing of bilateral and multilateral agreements with other states led to a notable increase in Viet Nam's economic development indices.Despite the problems that Viet Nam still faces, such as corruption, poor quality of the education system or the concentration of income in urban areas, government authorities aim to become an uppermiddleincome country by 2030 and reach the list of developed countries by 2045.In this sense, the research aims to analyze the Doi Moi and its main results.
