A station that marches with the times
Abstract
This research takes a look at the history of the Cuban radio station Radio Reloj, as there are few studies on this media outlet despite the fact that it has been on the air since July 1, 1947, minute by minute, with programming that is completely live 24 hours a day, bearing witness to the most significant events in the economic, political, social, and cultural life of the island. This research used a qualitative design strategy to understand the different realities and subjective elements of the interviewees.In-depth interviews and bibliographic and documentary reviews were also used as techniques for gathering information. The presentation highlighted the importance of retrospective interpretive journalism for the compilation of historical memory.Radio Reloj's working style is unique in the history of broadcasting, not only because of its continuous news format, but also because of the rigorous technical, editorial, and operational structure that supports it.What began as an experiment with an idea imported from the Mexican station XEQK is now the oldest continuous news channel in the world and an inseparable part of Cuba's radio heritage, as it has marked the passage of time in this country for 78 years.
