Motifs, topics, commonplaces and characters of the traditional oral narrative in Zumpahuacán: the influence of the Mexican Revolution
Abstract
The safeguarding, dissemination, and promotion of oral tradition are essential for helping to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, as framed by the guidelines of international organizations such as UNESCO.Popular narrative tradition weaves together a whole network of relationships, knowledge, and the history of the community that created it, preserves it, and passes it on, embodying its historical past and present in oral narratives that go beyond legends and myths. We would like to thank the Consejo Mexiquense de Ciencia y Tecnología (COMECyT) for its support in carrying out this work, which is the result of ongoing research and fieldwork focused on collecting oral narratives.
