Abstract

The pathway to decarbonization requires flexible systems that accommodate the increasing heterogeneity of electrical assets while maintaining high performance. CE+T approach is to design generic power conversion components, such as a common AC interface, which serve as building blocks for multiple products. This strategy shortens time-to-market while ensuring adaptability across diverse applications. CE+T products are based on a platform integrating all microgrid functions within prefabricated enclosures, seamlessly connecting renewable sources, storage, and the grid. It leverages modular components and power conversion stages arranged in multi-path topologies, an approach that raises significant control challenges but unlocks superior efficiency and compactness. The first product derived from this platform is dedicated to stationary storage, while the next focuses on hydrogen fuel cells for rail transport. By combining batteries and fuel cells within the same architecture, it delivers compact, scalable, and zero-emission systems adapted to demanding load profiles. This article details the architectural principles, performance evaluations, and comparative analyses. Results demonstrate high efficiency (approximately 50% lower conversion losses compared to former generation products), superior density (up to 50%), and achieved stability, confirming the platform’s ability to accelerate the deployment of sustainable storage and mobility solutions.
