Abstract

(Text in French) 3D induced heterogeneous photocatalysis: let the light shine in. While combining the sol-gel process and the physical-chemistry of complex fluids, through a one step process, it is possible conceiving monolithic oxide ceramics bearing a hierarchical porosity. Overall, an amorphous siliceous matrix being hierarchically organized is promoting the open-3D architectures cohesion where transitional metal oxide nanoparticles are randomly distributed. Thus, a florilegia of novel biphasic catalysts is emerging and are labelled hereafter as MUB, acronym that stands for “Matériaux de l’Université de Bordeaux”. Within these monolithic open frameworks, both mass and photonic transport are optimized, mimicking radiolarian exoskeletons as outstanding photocatalytic systems. This article focuses on the topic over volumic VOCs photo-abatement processes opening the path towards minimizing footprint penalty while bypassing restrictive and conventional 2D-based methodologies. Overall strategy where we let the light shine in.
