Abstract

Background: Manyāstambha, a Vāta-pradhāna nānātmaja vyādhi described in Ayurveda, closely resembles cervical spondylosis characterized by chronic neck pain, stiffness, crepitus, and restricted cervical movements. Increasing occupational strain and prolonged sedentary lifestyle have contributed to its growing prevalence among working-age adults. Aim: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of a structured Ayurveda treatment protocol in Manyāstambha (cervical spondylosis). Case Presentation: A 46-year-old male IT professional presented with chronic neck pain, stiffness, crepitus, and restricted cervical mobility for 7–8 years. Clinical assessment led to a diagnosis of Vāta–Kapha-pradhāna Manyāstambha. Intervention: The patient received Navajīvana Rasa, Rasnādī Guggulu, Aśvagandhāriṣṭa, Yaṣṭimadhu Cūrṇa, selected bhasma preparations, and Bala–Aśvagandhā Taila abhyanga for 15 days. Outcome: VAS pain score reduced from 8 to 2, cervical stiffness improved by nearly 70%, and cervical movements improved significantly without adverse effects. Conclusion: The multimodal Ayurveda approach showed promising clinical improvement in cervical spondylosis and may serve as an effective integrative management strategy.
