Abstract

This study investigated perceptions of China Global Television Network (CGTN), Cable News Network (CNN), and Nigerian Television Authority International (NTAi) among 1,294 randomly selected Nigerian viewers. The research instrument was a 10-item Google Form. Findings showed that most of the respondents watched CGTN, CNN, and NTAi at least daily during the study. However, at α = 0.05 testing of hypotheses, results showed no correlation between cultural sympathy, sex, and age versus viewers’ perception of the three media as sources of global news. The study therefore recommends measures towards improvements in programming, viewers’ experiencing, and research database.
