Consciousness as Cluster Coherence: New Information Comparison, Dimension 0 (D = 0) and the Democracy Triangle within Holistic Information Theory (HIT)
Abstract
This study develops a model within Holistic Information Theory (HIT) in which consciousness is understood not as a purely psychological phenomenon, but as a universal process of system and species preservation through change. Every form of existence—from elementary particles to societies—can only remain stable by continuously generating new states, thereby producing new information that must be compared, integrated and stabilised in relation to future possibilities. The core hypothesis proposes that consciousness arises as a cluster phenomenon. In information networks, participants continuously generate new information about themselves and others. The comparison between one’s own informational structure and newly emerging relational and cluster information creates a coherent shared reality. Consciousness is thus defined as the stabilised connectivity of a system that preserves itself through the alignment of new information. Dimension 0 (D = 0) is introduced as a minimal dimension of maximum possibility density, representing information prior to spatial, energetic or material realisation. Closely related is the concept of the supernothing, understood as a local and universal information reservoir that connects individual participants with the overall structure of reality. Within this framework, the democracy triangle is formulated as a natural law of consciousness: stable consciousness emerges only when reality perception, ethical system preservation and follow-up action are cyclically synchronised. Paradoxes are reinterpreted not as failures of explanation, but as necessary question impulses that drive the emergence of new order, health, culture, ethics and evolutionary development. Consciousness, in this sense, is the ongoing capacity of systems to process paradoxes productively by transforming new information into coherent future-oriented structures.
