Educación STEAM y Robots Ecológicos en la Universidad Tecnológica de Altamira: Innovación, Sostenibilidad y Competencias del Siglo XXI
Abstract
The implementation of STEAM programs in Mexican schools has required active collaboration among teachers, administrators, productive sectors, and communities, highlighting the need for adequate resources, continuous teacher training, and a flexible curriculum that fosters practical activities and interdisciplinary projects. Aligned with the vision of the New Mexican School (NEM), STEAM education is conceived as a strategic tool to equip new generations with essential competencies to face contemporary challenges. By integrating innovation and creativity with technical and scientific knowledge, this approach contributes to building a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future. This article documents, through a photographic sequence, the comprehensive process of designing and constructing ecological robots developed for STEAM education sessions aimed at primary school students in southern Tamaulipas. The project began with the selection of recycled materials and reusable electronic components, prioritizing sustainability and technical functionality. During the assembly phase, engineering and mechanics principles were applied to ensure prototype mobility, while controlled environment tests validated their pedagogical relevance. Finally, the robots were confirmed as effective didactic tools, enabling students to interact with technology in a practical and meaningful way. This effort reflects the commitment to integrating science and art within a local context, facilitating the transfer of theoretical knowledge into tangible applications with social and educational impact in the region.
