Análisis de la Correspondencia Entre Competencias Formativas y Requerimientos Ocupacionales en la Ingeniería en Riesgos de Desastres
Abstract
Disaster Risk Engineering has become a strategic field for the comprehensive management of natural and human-caused hazards, especially in territorial contexts characterized by high levels of social, environmental, and economic vulnerability. In this context, university education has played a crucial role in ensuring that graduates possess the necessary skills to effectively meet the demands of the labor market and the institutional requirements related to disaster risk reduction. However, the available scientific evidence has shown the persistence of significant gaps between the competencies developed in academic programs and the actual occupational requirements of the professional environment. This doctoral research aimed to analyze the correspondence between the competencies promoted in university programs in Disaster Risk Engineering and the occupational requirements demanded by the labor sector. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a descriptive and correlational scope, based on the empirical-analytical paradigm and the application of the deductive method. Structured instruments were used to collect information. These instruments were applied to key stakeholders in the academic and professional fields, allowing for a systematic comparison of generic and specific competencies with current occupational profiles. The results obtained identified varying levels of alignment, as well as significant gaps and mismatches between university education and current labor market needs. This generated an empirical basis for curriculum improvement, strengthening professional profiles, and informing institutional decision-making.
