Análisis del Proceso de Producción de Biodiésel a Partir de Aceite de Palma Africana (Elaeis Guineensis) y Aceite de Girasol: Modelado Cinético y Simulación
Abstract
This study investigates the apparent kinetics of the transesterification of African palm oil (Elaeis guineensis) and its mixture with refined sunflower oil for biodiesel production using methanol and a homogeneous sodium hydroxide catalyst. Catalyst concentration and methanol-to-oil molar ratio were statistically evaluated to identify optimal operating conditions. Reaction kinetics were determined through time-resolved concentration measurements, and biodiesel quality parameters were compared with ASTM D6751 specifications. Process simulation and energetic evaluation were conducted using SuperPro Designer®. Results show that blending sunflower oil with palm oil accelerates reaction kinetics due to changes in fatty acid composition, leading to reduced reaction times and improved energy efficiency.
