Abstract

There are various sources or registries that contain information on security-related issues. In the case of missing persons, there are registries that provide basic information about this phenomenon, such as sex, the federal entity where the disappearance occurred, age, or disappearance status. However, there is a lack of data regarding the period following the disappearance, particularly information reflecting the impacts suffered or the type of locations where people disappear. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze information from missing persons registries and to complement this data with five cases of missing persons from the state of Tamaulipas. This will be carried out by collecting data from official missing persons registries and by adding information gathered through interviews conducted with relatives of missing persons, thereby enriching the available data. The results indicate that, in addition to a high number of disappearances in this federal entity, participants experienced emotional and psychiatric consequences, social isolation, and threats to their lives. Furthermore, the locations of the disappearances are linked to areas closest to their homes.
