Necesidades Socioemocionales y Fortalecimiento del Bienestar de los Estudiantes de la Preparatoria UAT Nuevo Laredo
Abstract
This study aimed to conduct a detailed analysis of the socioemotional needs of students at Preparatoria UAT Nuevo Laredo, in order to diagnose the emotional, family, and social conditions that affected students’ academic performance and well-being. Based on these findings, a proposal for a guidance and teaching support framework was designed, which was intended as a tool to foster a more empathetic, inclusive, and resilient school environment, allowing students to develop their academic and personal competencies comprehensively. The methodology combined qualitative and quantitative approaches in three phases: the identification of socioemotional needs through surveys; the assessment of personal, family, and school-related variables through structured open dialogues between students and teachers; and the proposal to systematize in the future a structured model to address students’ main psychological and affective needs. The diagnosis revealed a dual panorama: on one hand, students demonstrated strengths in areas such as self-esteem, sense of belonging, and positive relationships; on the other hand, areas of concern were identified related to emotional regulation, stress management, and perceptions of an uncertain future. Based on these findings, a teaching support model was developed, which included socioemotional development workshops, a teacher-student mentoring program, continuous evaluation of socioemotional well-being, among other components. In conclusion, the experience at Preparatoria UAT Nuevo Laredo demonstrated that it was possible to implement effective practices to diagnose and address students’ socioemotional needs.
