Esquizofrenia de Inicio Muy Temprano Refractaria a Clozapina: Reporte de Caso
Abstract
Very early onset schizophrenia (VEOS) has been described as that which is established in the age range of 12-13 years, having a prevalence of less than 0.04% (1). Even less common is a group with characteristics of treatment resistance where the use of two antipsychotics in an adequate time (>= 6 weeks) and with adequate doses (equivalent to >= 600 mg chlorpromazine) is ineffective for the remission of psychotic symptoms. Therefore, a case is presented of a 13-year-old adolescent patient from Northeastern Colombia with VEOS and schizophrenia resistant to treatment with clozapine who, after augmentation with two cycles of ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy), remains without response, describing its evolution from its onset in 2023 to the present, due to the lack of evidence for timely treatment associated with the poor prognosis and chronic deterioration, a bibliographic review is sought of the possible therapeutic options for the patient.
