Abstract

This study aims to identify how artistic expression impacts the strengthening of logical-mathematical connections in children aged 3 to 4 years at an educational institution in the city of Loja. A rating scale based on the skills established in the prioritized early childhood education curriculum within the domain of logical-mathematical relationships was applied to a sample of 22 children. The findings showed that 82% of those assessed were at the initial and in-progress levels, which was attributed to difficulties in managing concepts such as comparison, shape, color, time, size and measurement, as well as number and quantity. However, after implementing an activity guide based on artistic expression, this percentage decreased to 55%. In summary, artistic expression as a pedagogical strategy in the area of mathematics enhances children’s creativity and supports the construction of solid learning through sensitive and meaningful experiences.
