Abstract

The contemporary cartography field is undergoing a profound transformation with the advent and integration of innovative technologies into well-established topographic survey methods. The article highlights that instruments such as GNSS, drones, orbital sensors, and digital platforms, when used in an integrated manner, significantly broaden the possibilities for analysis, detail, and accuracy in spatial representations. This scenario demands from professionals not only technical expertise but also discernment to evaluate the particularities of each project, taking into account factors such as cost, accuracy, scale, study purpose, and terrain characteristics. The text emphasizes that the appropriate choice of method can directly impact the reliability of data and the usefulness of information generated, especially in areas such as urban planning, environmental studies, and judicial appraisals. As digital tools become more accessible and sophisticated, the contemporary challenge lies in the intelligent integration of different data sources, leveraging the advantages of each approach and overcoming limitations, in order to produce maps and charts that meet society's demands with fidelity and efficiency.
