RISCOS OCUPACIONAIS NA LUTHIERIA: EXPOSIÇÃO A POEIRAS ORGÂNICAS E SOLVENTES QUÍMICOS EM OFICINAS DE PRODUÇÃO DE INSTRUMENTOS MUSICAIS
Abstract
This article analyzes occupational risks in luthiery, with emphasis on exposure to organic dust and chemical solvents in musical instrument manufacturing workshops. Despite the cultural and economic relevance of this activity, its impacts on workers’ health remain underexplored in scientific research, particularly in the Brazilian context. The objective of the study is to analyze the main health risks faced by luthiers due to continuous exposure to these agents and to present prevention measures and damage reduction strategies based on technical and regulatory evidence. Methodologically, this is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, based on a bibliographic review and documentary analysis of national scientific publications, legislation and technical standards related to occupational health and safety. The results indicate that prolonged exposure to wood dust is associated with respiratory and dermatological disorders, while frequent contact with chemical solvents may lead to neurobehavioral and skin-related effects. Environmental and organizational factors, such as inadequate ventilation and informal work arrangements, were also identified as elements that intensify occupational risks. It is concluded that reducing health damage in luthiery requires the integrated adoption of collective, organizational and individual protective measures, as well as the strengthening of a preventive culture in musical instrument production workshops.
