DIREITOS FUNDAMENTAIS À PESSOA COM DEFICIÊNCIA: DESAFIOS E CONCRETIZAÇÕES

This work aims specifically at a critical analysis of social discrimination in the lives of people with disabilities. To achieve this objective, we will first present important concepts and definitions regarding the term "disability" and the conflicts and problems experienced by this segment of the population. Following this, after briefly commenting on the proposals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, we reflect on the innovations of the Statute of Persons with Disabilities (Law 13.146/2015), which presents criteria and strategies for its possible practical application. Finally, we conclude that despite many significant advances, facets of discrimination still represent obstacles and need to be overcome so that we can truly build a more egalitarian, just society with equal opportunities.
