O MINISTÉRIO PÚBLICO BRASILEIRO E OS DESAFIOS MODERNOS: TECNOLOGIA, DIREITOS HUMANOS E COMBATE À CORRUPÇÃO
Abstract
This article analyzes the contemporary role of the Brazilian Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) in light of the challenges posed by technological transformation, the expansion of human rights, and the urgent need for new instruments in the fight against corruption. Using a legal-bibliographical, comparative, and institutional approach, the study examines how the Prosecutor’s Office has adapted to the dynamics of the digital era, especially regarding data protection, public transparency, and democratic accountability. Drawing upon theoretical contributions by Luís Roberto Barroso, Gilmar Mendes, Daniel Sarmento, Flávia Piovesan, and André de Carvalho Ramos, it explores the relationship between contemporary constitutionalism and the strengthening of essential justice functions. The research concludes that the Public Prosecutor’s Office plays a strategic role in defending the Constitution, citizenship, and democracy, but faces the challenge of reconciling functional independence with the demands of technological transparency and public oversight. The article offers a critical reflection on the ethical and institutional modernization required for the Public Prosecutor’s Office to operate effectively in the digital age.
