BENEFÍCIO DA HIDROGINÁSTICA NA QUALIDADE DE VIDA EM IDOSOS COM MAIS DE 70 ANOS
Abstract
This research examines the impact of regular hydrogymnastics practice on handgrip strength in older adults, acknowledging this indicator as a key marker of functional capacity and autonomy in ageing. The study aims to understand how sustained aquatic activity contributes to muscle preservation, balance maintenance, and overall quality of life in individuals over the age of 70. The methodological approach follows an integrative review, gathering scientific evidence from national and international databases. Inclusion criteria focused on age, regular engagement in hydrogymnastics, and objective assessment of handgrip strength. The methodological process involved systematic searching, screening, full reading, and critical analysis of the studies, leading to the synthesis of significant findings. Preliminary results suggest that continuous hydrogymnastics enhances muscular strength, promotes postural balance, stimulates flexibility, and supports psychosocial wellbeing. These outcomes reinforce its role as both a preventive and therapeutic strategy, offering valuable contributions to Physical Education and Gerontology, while guiding policies for healthy ageing.
